Abstract

This study describes the development of modern Chinese speculative fiction literature in the 21st century. The popularity of the fantasy genre is growing steadily throughout the world. High technology has attracted readers of all generations. Fiction makes it possible to put a person in such conditions when in real life they arise while touching upon actual problems. It is looking for answers to the problems that are really important for humanity today. Chinese science fiction is different from other countries’ ones. The Chinese people respect their traditions and history; they are inherent to find a connection between old and new ideas. In recent years, the genre of fiction in the Celestial Empire has been greatly developed, but despite globalization and rapprochement with the West, China remains incomprehensible to the world. In Chinese fiction there are texts filled with a specific Chinese tradition. Nevertheless, it can be said that Chinese science fiction writers were influenced by Western fiction to a greater extent than the influence of their own culture.
