Case-study method implementation at teaching process of professional foreign language at the international Relations sphere

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the case-study method implementation at the process of professional foreign language in the international relations sphere teaching. The definition of the “case” and “case-study method” is given. The main ways of this method using at the teaching process of the professional foreign language are considered.

The application of the case-study method is analyzed by the example of a professional foreign language course in the international relations field for the students of linguistics. The possibilities of this method using are considered based on the components of the linguistics students’ foreign language professional communicative competence in the international relations sphere. They are linguistic competence, subject competence, communicative competence, intercultural competence. The conclusion about the necessity of the case-study method using for the development of all components of the linguistics students’ foreign language professional communicative competence in the international relations sphere. Moreover, based on the L.Jenson, R.Rogers’s case classification, the examples of the case-method using for certain types of cases are described. The foreign language professional communicative competence’s components development by certain types of cases training is analyzed. Besides that, the teachers’ and students’ role in the professional foreign language at the case training process are described. The conclusion about the teachers’ and students’ role changing during case solving process in comparison with the traditional teaching methods is made.
